The Challenge
Locate NYC, a geocoding service leveraging New York City’s open data, needed a strong digital presence to connect with businesses using GIS technologies. Despite its powerful capabilities, the service lacked a distinctive brand identity and an engaging website to attract users and drive growth. The challenge was to create a platform that simplified complex technical information for a diverse audience, motivated users to explore the service, and expanded the client base through strategic digital marketing.
With GIS technologies becoming increasingly vital across industries, Locate NYC required a compelling brand and user-centric website to establish its position in the market and showcase its collaboration with Esri, a global leader in GIS software and mapping.
The Strategy
As Creative Director at DVG, I spearheaded the development of Locate NYC’s brand identity, messaging, and digital presence. Collaborating with key stakeholders, we crafted a comprehensive strategy to build a website that was visually engaging and functionally intuitive. The design simplified complex technical details, allowing users to easily understand the service’s benefits while navigating product demonstrations, subscription options, and service registration.
In addition to the website, I developed a robust digital marketing strategy to target potential users through social media campaigns, driving traffic and engagement. The website was designed to encourage actions like newsletter sign-ups, demo requests, and product registrations, transforming visitors into leads and clients. The seamless blend of strategic design and messaging ensured Locate NYC resonated with its audience and motivated users to act.
The Results
The redesigned Locate NYC brand and website delivered impressive results. Targeted social media campaigns led to a 350% increase in user lead generation, while homepage bounce rates dropped by 70% in the second quarter following the website’s launch. Digital marketing efforts drove a 400% increase in product demo requests, significantly expanding the service’s client base and solidifying its market presence.
This project demonstrated the impact of strategic branding and user-focused design. By creating a cohesive identity and an intuitive platform, I helped Locate NYC connect with its target audience, simplify complex GIS concepts, and drive meaningful growth in a competitive industry.
