The Challenge

Tarte Cosmetics, a globally recognized beauty brand, required a robust internal web portal to centralize communication, streamline access to resources, and enhance collaboration among employees and partners. Their existing methods for sharing news, training materials, and product information were fragmented, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities for engagement. The challenge was to design a user-friendly, visually cohesive platform that would foster collaboration, improve performance tracking, and elevate employee morale.

The project required careful planning to accommodate a wide range of use cases while maintaining an intuitive and engaging user experience that aligned with Tarte’s vibrant and innovative brand identity.

The Strategy

As the Creative Director at DVG, I led the design and development of Tarte’s internal web portal. Starting with a comprehensive analysis of potential use cases, I meticulously documented workflows and user needs to create a solid information architecture. I crafted wireframes and prototypes that outlined every aspect of the portal’s functionality, ensuring seamless navigation and accessibility for Tarte professionals and partners.

The visual design balanced Tarte’s bold, playful aesthetic with a clean, professional interface, aligning with the brand’s identity while maintaining usability. Constant collaboration with stakeholders ensured the portal met their expectations and addressed real-world challenges.

The Results

The launch of Tarte’s internal web portal delivered significant results. Weekly collaboration between employees and outside sales teams increased by 150%, fostering greater communication and efficiency. Performance metrics testing saw a 175% decrease in delays by the second quarter, thanks to streamlined access to training and resources. Employee retention and morale improved by 200% in the first six months, as the portal provided a centralized hub that simplified workflows and boosted engagement.
